Here is the winning story for our Best Proposal Contest! Thank you Kerry & Joel for sharing.
As told by Kerry…
On an unusually warm Sunday in November, my girlfriends and I hopped on a train into the city for a girls’ day out. After a full day of sightseeing, the girls insisted on going to the Brooklyn Bridge so they could take pictures of the bridge at sunset.
Walking towards the water, I realized I had been there before on my first date with my boyfriend, Joel. On the date, we saw a bride and groom taking photos on the promenade by the water – with lights of the city providing a gorgeous backdrop for their photos. How special, I thought.
I told the girls there was a park nearby – right between the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges. As we walked into the park, they took off running for photo opps and I decided to call Joel to reminisce about our first date. Sadly, he didn’t answer.
As we walked the path, I noticed someone with his back to us and a photographer behind a tripod across the path. I stopped dead in my tracks.
That’s when Joel stood up and turned around with a dozen long stem roses. As he walked toward me, I burst into tears. He quickly got down on one knee and told me he couldn’t imagine a more perfect spot to ask me to spend forever with him. He opened the box to the most perfect ring! All the while, my best friends and a photographer were documenting this special moment. Of course, I immediately said YES!
As if the night could not get more perfect, our friends had strawberries and champagne waiting for us before whisking us off to our favorite Italian restaurant. We topped the night off by relaxing with our closest friends and gushing about our future together.
