I have some exciting news to share in terms of my wedding… I booked by dream venue – The Towers, Narragansett, RI! Located directly on the beach with a 180 view of the ocean, this venue is everything I could have asked for and more!
When looking for a venue, there were a few things I learned along the way that I’d like to share.
Tip #1 – Do not wait long after getting engaged to look for a venue. Start looking immediately after getting engaged and setting a budget. We were lucky to book the only Saturday that The Towers had available during the Summer of 2011 and we booked 16 months in advance!
Tip #2 – Ask for recommendations! Since we are having a mini-destination wedding, we weren’t able to make the trip to Rhode Island as often as we liked. Thankfully, we knew enough people from the area that recommended a few of their favorite places to us. The venue on the top of the list, The Towers.
Tip #3 – Go to a Bridal Show! We went to a bridal show only 1 month after getting engaged. We asked each of the vendors at the event to rate their wedding experience at The Towers. Again, all the responses were postitive.
Tip #4 – Ask Photographers for Photos – Often times, the venue’s website might not show enough photos to satisfy a picky bride-to-be. By researching local photographers and seeing additional photos of weddings at my venue, I was able to get a good feel of how our wedding could be. We found an amazing photographer, Seth Jacobson, who sent us a number of photos of our venue (which I’ve included in this post).
Tip #5- Research Previous Brides’ Experiences – The best way to know any hidden costs and tips when dealing with a venue is to find past brides who used the venue in question. Through websites such as Wedding Bee, we were able to find a number of brides how were married at our venue and gave us tips on what to book, what to avoid and rated their overall experience.
Now time for another pic of the gorgeous dance floor at The Towers! Directly overlooking the ocean, with a balcony over the water, this dance floor is my vision of a perfect wedding! Thank you Seth Jacobson for sending these gorgeous photos!
