We had so many fabulous brides join us at our Wedding Bootcamp at Dylan’s Candy Bar last night! Our brides walked away with hot tips on band booking, photography trends, tips on finding the perfect gown and much more!
Kathy from Concepts in Bloom shared some of her fifteen years of event planning experience with our brides. According to Kathy, the hottest trends are eco-friendly weddings, incorporating soft lighting and smaller, more intimate cakes. Some Tips from Kathy: Book a planner at least three months prior to your wedding, always ask for references, and don’t be afraid to negotiate a package that fits your specific need.
John Malino, from The John Malino Band, urged brides to let band leaders express their creativity and not dictate playlists, since that usually leads to a more organic experience and a fun-filled, fluid environment. John also asked brides to consider prompting communication between the band and the venue to assure dining times and toasts are not interrupted.
The ultra-charming, Jeremy Brandrick, gave the ultimate couture gown tips. He mentioned that custom-made gowns are a different from conventional wedding gown fittings, as everything is made to measure and the dress acts as a “springboard for ideas,” so the bride can achieve her dream look. Jeremy stated that the hottest trends in wedding dresses right now are buying two dresses for the ceremony & reception.
Our last speaker, Amanda Picone, of Amanda Picone Photography revealed that the biggest trend in photography right now is incorporating up-lighting in the venue for more romantic shots. Livelier engagement shoots & trash the dress shoots are great trends that can be fit into the bride & grooms schedules so they are not rushed on their big day. She urged brides to consider whether the personality of your photographer matches your personal style. Additionally, if you plan on having over 200 people at your wedding, always book a second shooter!
