Tips & Trends from Wedding Bootcamp

The Wedding Bootcamp at Dylan’s Candy Bar this past Monday featured a rare panel discussion including our very own Tatiana Byron, founder of The Wedding Salon.  Tatiana discussed the latest trends in catering and gave tips on how to have fun with food at your reception.  More brides are opting for donut bars, mini cupcakes, decadent chocolate fountains, ice cream bars and using candy buffets. As for favors? Candied apples and cotton candy are great wedding favors for the ride home.Tatiana advised brides who are on a budget, to really consider food favors as guests always appreciate those late night snacks as opposed to a little gadget you might not be able to afford.

In terms of bridal couture, Tatiana revealed that mini-dresses, such as the gown worn by Tori Spelling at her recent vow-renewal ceremony, are making a daring step forward. These gowns can be worn both at the ceremony or as a second-option gown for the reception.

We were thrilled to have Camille, from Camille Meola Collection speak about her gorgeous jewelry. Camille advised brides to always select jewelry that will make you feel comfortable! Don’t go with a look that is not true to your style.  Another key tip for brides from Camille Meola – Remember to get everything you discussed with your vendors written down, to insure that your contract reflects everything that you want.

DJNY Productions stated that uplighting in venues is the biggest trend for Summer 2010.  Their advice for brides was to strongly consider a mixed live musician and DJ package, which keeps the music fresh while saving more money than a full live band.  They also urged couples to start off with basic package pricing and customize your way into your ideal package. This will insure you that you get everything you want without wasting money on unnecessary features.
