The Most Memorable Wedding Gowns of All Time

Throughout the years, there have been many brides that have grabbed our attention. However, only a few stand out as having  the most memorable gowns of all time!  Though every bride beams on their special day, we’ve picked our list of the most iconic bridal fashions of all time.

dresses This bride has had more weddings then we can count on one hand, but Elizabeth Taylor’s very first gown was one to remember. When she married Conrad “Nicky” Hilton, she walked down the aisle wearing a $1,500 satin wedding gown that was a gift from MGM studios.  This dress would cost over $13,000 today!

This unbelievable gown was created by MGM studio designer, Helen Rose. Made of white satin, Elizabeth’s gown was embellished with beading and seed pearls – It took a handful of workers to complete!  A chiffon overlay covered the sweetheart neckline and her veil hung from a cap and tiara garnished with pearls!

dresses 1Style icon Jaqueline Kennedy didn’t disappoint with her Anne Lowe gown at her 1953 marriage to President John F. Kennedy.   The ivory silk-taffeta gown featured a portrait neckline and bouffant skirt, impeccably detailed with interwoven bands of tucking and tiny wax flowers!

And that’s not all – The bride wore her grandmother’s heirloom rose point lace veil attached to her flawless hair with a small tiara of lace and orange blossoms. dresses 2

It’s impossible to talk about iconic wedding gowns, without mentioning Princess Diana.  She wore an over-the-top, unbelievable dress by David and Elizabeth Emmanuel at her 1981 wedding.  Not only is it one of the most famous dresses, but it is one of the most expensive bridal dresses ever made – totally handmade with lace sewn in place by gold thread!

The royal wedding gown was made with an ivory silk studded with more than 10,000 pearls and sequins. It was accompanied with huge, elegant sleeves and an oversized veil. Oh, and of course it wouldn’t have been complete without a 25 foot train created from antique lace and ivory silk taffeta. The value of this creation is completely unknown!
