Wedding 911

Although it is something most brides don’t want to think about, Murphy’s Law isn’t reserved for romantic comedies and slapstick humor.  Brides need to be prepared to handle the mantra “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong,” and come armed to squash any wedding day woes.  If you haven’t enlisted the help of a wedding planner, I advise each and every bride to prepare an emergency kit to avoid wedding day snafus and stress.

My best advice is to think logically about the sequence of events surrounding your wedding day and plan accordingly!  For example, if you are having a wedding outdoors in the summertime you should pack sunscreen, cheap sunglasses, a mini fan, water bottles, deodorant, makeup remover and frizz spray for flyaway hair.  There is no such thing as being over prepared — your guests will thank you for taking the extra step to make their day comfortable.

You don’t need to spend a lot of money to put together a kit worthy of surviving a natural disaster.  A few of my absolute must have’s include the Tide-To-Go pen to clean up stains, mini deodorant to avoid embarrassing sweat marks, a mini sewing kit with safety pins for last minute fashion adjustments, Advil for headaches or early on-set hangovers, clear nail polish to fix chips or stocking runs, No. 2 pencil erasers (ripped off of the pencil) to replace any missing earring backs, hair ties so your girls can get down on the dance floor and mints to avoid any awkward intimate interactions.  My number one must-have for weddings and life in general is Hollywood fashion Tape.  Aside from its obvious appeal of keeping dresses in place, I have used fashion tape to attach finicky linens to reception tables, fasten fabric to glass vases for centerpieces, and to wrap last minute gifts for bridesmaid and groomsmen gifts when standard Scotch tape wasn’t available.

If you are short on time or don’t know where to start to prepare your wedding survival kit, there are a few great pre-packaged wedding survival kits available from various retailers and vendors.  Here are a few of my favorites.  Happy shopping!
