Interview with Delicate Details’ Maryam Forutan – Part 1
With LA on our mind this month, we spoke with Maryam Forutan of Delicate Details who gave us some insight and tips for our Los Angeles brides!
Q. How did you get into the wedding industry?
I started working for someone in the industry and realized my passion immediately. When my former employer retired, I decided to start my own company which showcased a reflection of what I thought was important in a Wedding Planner. I decided to name my company Delicate Details as I acknowledge that each and every detail throughout the wedding planning process is delicate!
Q. Tell us a little about the typical LA Bride?
The “typical” Los Angeles bride is all about the details! Brides all around the world are obviously all trying to think of ways to make their wedding day special. With LA brides, I find a little more attention to detail in order to incorporate their own personal touch to the wedding. For example, creating a candy station with all the bride and groom’s favorite candy, giving a favor to their guests which show a true reflection of the bride and groom’s personalities or personalizing a Welcome Bag to each guest with some of their favorite goodies!
Q. What trends are you seeing for 2011?
I see a lot of modern elements being incorporated into weddings for 2011. Brides and Grooms are starting to steer away from traditional elements which is wonderful. They are starting to realize that you can have a wedding without florals if that’s what they desire or you that you can simply be more creative with colors and lighting.
Q. Tell us some of your favorite venues in Los Angeles
Some of my favorite venues in Los Angeles are The Beverly Hills Hotel, Casa del Mar, Trump National Golf Course, and Terranea Resort. My favorite bridal salon is Sak’s Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills- their service to each and every one of my brides has been impeccable, not to mention their exquisite variety in designer gowns.
Q. Any other tips?
LA brides should always take into consideration TRAFFIC! A lot of details depend largely on traffic, For example 1. Ceremony start time and day of the week. 2 If the ceremony is in a different location than the reception…travel time from location A to location B should be considered. 3. Salon appointments- if the bride has decided not to have hair and makeup artists come to her hotel to get her ready and has decided to go to the salons.
