Gift Baskets for Out-of-Town Guests

Doesn’t it make you feel special when someone from far away is willing to make the trip for your wedding? Out-of-towners often end up spending a lot of money on weddings because not only do they have to pay for the gift for you but also a hotel, transportation, food, entertainment, etc.  Don’t you want to make them feel as special and they make you? I love when I attend a wedding and they have a gift basket waiting for me at check in or waiting in my hotel room! However, deciding on what to put in is crucial!

First, make sure that the basket is nice, sturdy and large enough for all the things you want to include in it.  It’s important that it’s not too big…you don’t want it to look like you don’t have enough in it!

Next, you want to include the basics.

  • Water (at least 2 bottles)
  • Snacks (chips, pretzels)
  • Gum
  • Soda (cans or small bottles)
  • Chocolate – this is great if you can find a local place!

  • Toiletries
  • Make them a list of your local favorite places to eat, shop, etc

If you want to go above and beyond, you can include this:

  • Wine (you can include 2 wine glasses as well!)
  • Flip flops (they can bring them to the wedding!)

If they have kids that are going to be traveling with them you can include coloring books (make sure you include crayons), playing cards, a DVD, etc.

Make sure that you include a little note thanking them for coming all the way for your wedding! Personal touches mean a lot!
