In the wedding industry, where normality is discouraged and extravagance is emphasized, the following wedding world records take over-the-top to a new level!!
World’s Biggest Wedding Cake
Weighing 15,032 pounds, containing seven tiers and feeding up to 59,000 people, the world’s largest wedding cake was created by Chef Lynn Mansel, Mohegan Sun’s Executive Pastry Chef, along with his 57 member team that contained chefs and pastry artisans. The previous world record was a mere 5,334 pounds, making this cake almost three times as large!!
World’s Longest Wedding Train
The world record is held by a bridal salon in Cyprus, which produced a dress that contained a 4,468 foot long wedding train. The train was created by Andreas Evstratiou on February 18, 2007, and he still holds the record to this day. Can you imagine trying not to trip when wearing this dress!
Largest Dog Wedding
Weddings aren’t just for humans, as seen on Saturday, May 19, 2007 when more than 178 canine couples gathered in Littleton Colorado to exchange their wedding barks and seal their marriages!! The event, “Bow Wow Vows” was hosted by the Aspen Grove Lifestyle Center and is currently the largest wedding ceremony for dogs ever!
Largest Bridal Party
When choosing a bridal party, the typical bride and groom have an average of 8-10 people. However, this was not the case when Suresh Joachim married Christa Rasanayagam on September 6, 2003 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Mississauga, Canada. The couple chose to have a bridal party that included 79 bridesmaids and 47 groomsmen, ranging in age from 18 months to 83 years old!!
World’s Most Expensive Wedding Dress
The most expensive wedding dress was unveiled at the Luxury Brands Lifestyle Bridal show in February of 2006 in Marina del Ray, California. Created collaboratively by Renee Strauss and Martin Katz, the dress contains 150 carats of diamonds and is valued at $12 million!
