Unique Twists on Catering For Your Big Day!

I always love when a bride and groom break away from the norm and do things a little differently at their wedding. I had the opportunity to speak with Diane and Monica of Diane Cooks, Inc. featuring Above and Beyond Events and got their top 3 ideas to put a unique twist on your wedding day!

1) Serving something after last call–either to have at your after party or for your guests to take home:  Mini-grilled cheese & Coke, “Milk & Cookies”, Mini Spring Rolls, Personal Pizzas or Cones of Gourmet French Fries!!

2) Instead of the more traditional buffet or plated sit-down dinner, have various stations with elaborate, substantial “finger food”.  One wedding they just did had 4 stations: Asian, Southern, Kabob and Caribbean. When you having stations, use elevated tables down the middle of the room instead of standard sit-down tables. This gives your wedding a cool, hip club-like feel.

3) Cut the cake before dinner, after the toasts. Then have the caterers wheel the cake back into the kitchen and serve slices after the sit-down dinner. This way, everyone gets to see the cake cutting and everyone gets to eat cake. Sometimes guests are so busy dancing they miss seeing the cake!
