It’s hurricane season, and the east coast has already experienced it’s first storm of the season with the arrival of Irene. Unfortunately, many couples had weddings planned, which had to be canceled or postponed due to the damage of Irene. The Knot stated that there were 6,031 weddings planned for Aug. 26 through Aug. 28 in areas affected by the hurricane.
Rescheduling or canceling weddings can result in a loss of deposits, as well as a loss of money on perishable items, such as food and flowers. Another problem brides are facing is being able to find another date to move the wedding to, as many venues are booked up to a year in advance. One couple even changed their rehearsal dinner into a wedding with less than two hours notice. The one positive that came out of the hurricane is that if it rains on your wedding day, you will have good luck in the future!
