Relax Before The Big Day

If it seems like your stress level is through the roof right now while planning your wedding, you need to relax. This is the most exciting day of your life and a time where you should take in every moment which is hard to do if you’re a giant ball of stress. Wellness Wednesday is all about you and taking care of your fitness, diet, and overall well-being prior to your wedding day. We want to present you with some of our tips for taking it easy and living in the moment.

1. No Day Of Planning

All of your planning should be done before your ceremony and you shouldn’t be on the phone with any vendors trying to figure out why your chairs are arriving late. Give this job to your maid of honor, mother, or sister because they’re not the ones getting married. You are.

2. Spa Day

Grab your girls and hit the spa. Even getting a short treatment like a manicure and pedicure can greatly reduce your stress level and take your mind off wedding planning. No time for the spa? Do some at-home treatments like a face mask or take a bath.

3. Indulge in a treat

If you’re a chocoholic, eat some candy. Love salty foods? Eat a pretzel. Wine fan? Grab a glass of wine. Treat yourself before the big day and indulge in something that truly makes you happy and forget about calories– they won’t matter.

4. Sleep but set a backup alarm.

Trying to get a good night’s sleep before an exciting event is near impossible but it will be worth it if you can get at least 8 hours in. Loss of sleep can result in irritability, lack of concentration, and moodiness. Don’t sleep on too much or you can be more sleepy and have similar symptoms associated with lack of sleep. Set multiple alarms to make sure you get up on time.

5. Yoga and meditation

Even if you’re a beginner to yoga and meditation, any time is a good time to start because of the relaxing benefits. Take a class at your local gym or grab a friend to help you.

6. Tea

Tea has some amazing benefits to help you chill out. Try some like chamomile with some milk and honey. Even if you’re not an expert tea maker then take a visit to Tevana or Starbucks.

7. Get outside

Go for a walk with your fiance or dog, lay out on the grass, or go for a hike Whatever it takes for you to unwind and take in fresh air is helpful.

8. Water

Water will keep your hydrated because when you’re dehydrated you can stress out more. Skip out on energy drinks like Red Bull or Rockstar because they can amp up your stress level. Add some lemon, cucumber, or orange to add some flavor.

9. Take a “Me” Day

If you love shopping, going to the gym, or driving. Enjoy the “me” time you’re getting as a way to relax and reflect on your wedding day.

10. Read

Grab a good book and a cup of tea to unwind. Keep the book light and funny without the stress of trying to speed through a totally intense book.

Remember, stress can completely damper the most exciting day of your life so taking everything in will help you relax and reflect on why you’re getting married. Your friends and family are a great way to stay level headed so give them a call and hang out.
