Wellness Wednesday is here and if you’ve been loosing your fitness motivation or need to start getting in shape, we have a fantastic solution- recruit your bridesmaids! Working out with a girlfriend (or your fiance) will help hold you both accountable for your fitness goals, diet, and how often you’re breaking a sweat. They can make workouts more enjoyable, can accompany you to fitness classes, and you can even cook healthy dinners together. Today we want to give you some other reasons and ways to get sweaty and bond with your bridal party.



If you’ve signed up for a gym membership with your friends then you may feel more committed to use it. Schedule time for you guys to attend fitness classes together or lift weights together and keep those plans. Do this instead of going out to happy hour or getting ice cream and you’ll burn the calories you normally would’ve consumed. It also works well if one friend is already fit and you see her as a source for inspiration.

It’s Fun

If you’re a pathetic dancer but want to try Zumba, you can all have a good laugh after your failed attempt or maybe you try Boot Camp and struggle through the burpees. Whatever it is, find a reason to enjoy what you’re doing and make it entertaining but a workout at the same time. I hate the girls who stand in the back of the class giggling. Don’t be those ladies, please at least put some effort into your workout.

Coach Each Other

Back to that friend who is in great shape, can she give you some assistance? Have everyone take turns going on Pinterest and picking out workouts to do together or research weight lifting exercises to try and tone your butt, thighs, arms, whatever. Be each other’s coach and help make sure the exercises are done right and are effective. Be the voice of motivation by pushing your girls out of their comfort zone.

You Work Harder

Ever run next to someone on the treadmill and try to run as fast or faster than they do? Guilty. When you work out with friends things can get competitive and that can drive you to burn more calories by trying to work harder than they do. Maybe you want to prove that you CAN do an extra 5 pushups or 10 seconds of planks. Just be careful not to go so hard that it results in an injury and all your plans go out the window.

Try New Things

One person in your bridal party may be really into pilates and you’ve always wanted to try it but didn’t want to do it alone. Go with her to class and try it out. You’ll feel better if you do it with someone you know even if you fail miserably at it. Get your girls together and sign up for a Tough Mudder or try hot yoga. Do whatever you can to break out of your comfort zone.

You’re in Shape

Now your whole bridal party has the potential to look great walking down the aisle and if you have single bridesmaids, an opportunity to meet your groom’s other single friends. Try to make it a lifestyle thing and not short term just for your wedding. Hopefully it’ll keep all of you motivated to maintain this lifestyle and you found a new way to hang out.

A great body and healthy life style will not go unnoticed and friends are perfect motivation to get you in shape. Aim to workout together at least 3 times per week and 2 times on your own to get optimal results because independent workouts can be enjoyable as well.
