Summer’s Classic Treat

For me, summer and ice cream go so well together and is the ultimate refreshing treat. With the emergence of frozen yogurt, I think we have lost our delight for well made ice cream and all of the delicious toppings that go with it. Bring this aspect into a wedding and bring back the love for a creamy frozen dessert that will incorporate the summer season. Munchie Monday is all about food and what better food to discuss today than ice cream? Having an ice cream bar at a summer wedding is fun and creative and here’s how to do it.

Network

Get in contact with your caterer and/or local ice cream parlors to see if they will cater your wedding. Taste their flavors first to make sure you pick the best ones.

Cold is Key

Ice cream melts and it melts quickly. Keeping it cold is essential to it’s success, especially if you’re having an outdoor wedding. Use a plastic tub filled with ice to keep it cold and set each individual carton in the tubs.

Variety of Flavors

Select popular and trendy flavors along with the classics. Vanilla, strawberry and chocolate never go out of style. For other popular flavors consider red velvet, cookie dough, mint chocolate chip, cake batter or a unique flavor you make yourself.

Toppings

Toppings make a sundae so give guests a variety of toppings they can serve themselves.

  • Hot fudge, fluff, caramel, etc. syrup toppings
  • Sprinkles
  • Crushed cookies
  • Chocolate chips
  • Fruit
  • Assorted nuts
  • Cherries
  • Whipped cream

No Metal Needed

Make customized spoons for guests. This touch can also be used on the serving cups that include your wedding date or a cute quote.

Everyone loves ice cream so it’s a crowd pleaser. It’s also a unique way to serve desserts and will take your guests by surprise. Have fun and feel free to make the ice cream bar as unique as your wedding!

Happy Planning,
