Staying Crunch Free

Crunches are the vain of my ab existence. They’re boring and painful and guess what, they don’t do as much for you as you think they do. Abs consist of everything you want in a flat belly: a defined stomach and no muffin top to help you slide into your dream wedding dress. There are other exercises that are effective enough to give you the results you’ve been dreaming of. Grab your bridesmaids and do some of the workouts we have to show you in order to get the stomachs that will make your men swoon.

Before you start remember that while doing each move you’ll need to keep breathing and tighten your core in order to engage all of the muscles.

V Ups

v-ups

V Ups work your upper and lower abs as well as your lower back. Click on the pic for a video or take a look at the picture to perform this correctly and do 10-15 reps for 2 or 3 sets.

Russian Twist

russian-twistEngaging your lower abs and obliques, this move involves you twisting side to side with your knees in a v position (again click on the pic). To make it more advanced add a 5 pound medicine ball. Do 25 reps for 2-3 sets.

Plank With Leg Lift

1107-plank-alternating-legWorking your shoulders, back, abs and obliques, planks are a great all over move. For this one, you start in a regular plank position and one at a time raise each leg. Do 20 on each leg for 2-3 sets.

Low Belly Leg Reach

T-Stabilizer

Starting in a push up position, shift your weight to your left hand while rotating your body so your right arm is in the air and your body looks similar to a T. Hold for a few seconds then return to start to complete one rep. Do this 10 times on each arm for 2-3 sets.

Mountain Climber on Stability Ball

1101-dynamic-stabilization

Traditional mountain climbers are fantastic for cardio and your abs but adding the stability ball will force you to engage your core and work even more muscles. See the video for a how-to. Do this for 30 secs at least 2-3 times.

Do this workouts at the end of your cardio and weight workout. Keep staying motivated to get lean and look beautiful for your wedding day, no matter how hard it gets.

Happy Planning,
