Being Brave, DIY Adventures

This Reception Thursday we’re going to expose you to the magical and creative world of DIY (aka Do It Yourself). Some brides choose to do this because it saves a ton of money but others like putting their own creative and crafty touch on personal pieces. Regardless of your reason, DIY is time consuming but also allows you to create decor that you otherwise could not have bought in a store or found through your wedding planner. Here is our list of creative and beautiful reception decor you should sit down and craft.

Origami Heart Escort Cards

We snagged this cute idea from Green Wedding Shoes. You can choose the colors you want to match your palette and you can find other ways to use these hearts without the writing.

Personalized Aisle Runner

Oh Lovely Day had a fantastic idea for a personalized ceremony runner that adds memorable moments from your relationship and a unique touch to your ceremony.

Paper Protea

The beautiful colors of this place setting idea is from Ruffled‘s blog. Like the origami, you can change the colors so that they suite your overall image.

Giant Flower Photo Booth Backdrop

Oh Happy Day gave us the inspiration for a fun backdrop. This works well for a garden wedding or an wedding with a flower theme.

Chalkboard Mason Jar Candle Centerpiece

This is one of the coolest DIY ideas I’ve seen. The mason jar trend is huge and looks great for a rustic wedding or a garden themed wedding. We were inspired by this from Heart Love Weddings.

Fringe Noise Makers

Knotty Bride has a beautiful idea for fringe noisemakers that come in silver, mint, white and pink. I’m sure you can change the color to match your theme and these are fun for your entrance or exit.

Before you start a DIY project practice, practice, practice. You don’t want your pieces to look unattractive and maybe recruit some bridesmaids or friends/family to help you make these pieces.

Happy Planning,
