Dressing For Your Shape, Part Five

Brides are not a one size fits all situation. You all have your unique shapes and sizes and we’ve been celebrating it for the past five weeks on Fashion Friday. Last week we discussed Pear Shaped Brides and this week we’re showing you the best dresses for the petite body type.

Petite Brides measure under 5’4 and are small in shape all around. You’re going to have an issue of the dress wearing you as it might be overpowering. Shorter brides have less area to cover and need to look for fabrics that don’t bulk them up. Look for trumpet, a-line and sheath gowns with a waistline that starts above your natural waist. This will make your lower half appear longer.

Alternatively, choosing a drop waist dress will make your legs look small and stumpy. Avoid ball gowns as shorter brides have a tendency to get lost in everything. Steer clear of calf length dresses that cut your legs off and can also make them look shorter. Below is a list of wedding dresses that will suite your style.
