As we bid adieu to the annual day of love, let’s look into what happened in celeb history. We’re all a little guilty of keeping up with celebrity relationships better than our own. But do we remember the puppy eyed lovers that got hitched on the day for romance?
Canadian-American actress and model, Pamela Anderson married Tommy Lee, drummer of Motley Crüe on Valentine’s Day in 1995. The pair had only known each other for 3 DAYS. Anderson’s mother found out about the wedding through People magazine and had no prior knowledge of the engagement/newly-weds. Married in her bikini on a beach in Cancun, Mexico, this was Anderson’s first of four marriages.
Movie stars Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid married after starring in three films together D.O.A., Innerspace, and Flesh and Bones. They wed on V-day in 1991 and had one of the most extravagant weddings of the decade. Their not-so-fabulous divorce came about in 2001 after a crazy love triangle and suspected infidelity on both ends. However, Hollywood gives “Kudos!” to the pair for making it 10 years, being one of the longer lasting celeb couples.
Saying Mayte Garcia received a little help from Prince with her album would be an understatement. He was the producer of her album “Child of the Sun” and things definitely escalated. Garcia and Prince bonded over their musical partnership and married on Valentine’s Day in 1996 live online. She was only 22 at the time, and Prince was a little older at 37 years old. But hey, age is just a number!
Lil Wayne and Antonia Wright, his high school sweetheart, married on Valentine’s day in 2004. The couple met when they were only 12 years old in New Orleans, Louisiana… talk about young love. Toyota was 14 when she became pregnant, and Lil Wayne became a father at the age of only 16. After his music career started taking off the high school sweeties got married, but divorced shortly after in 2006.
Victoria Secret model, Adriana Lima married NBA player, Marko Jarić on V-day in 2009. An absolutely stunning couple, the lovers named their daughter “Valentina” which is a Latin name meaning brave and strong. What better way to remember your vows!?
